Some days, we just want to take a walk. Here are three spots that are mostly flat, have views that you can only find in the Bay Area, and are nice for everyone to enjoy.
Berkeley Marina: Dorothy Stegmann Trail around Cesar Chavez Park
This is an approximately 1.25 mile paved loop around the perimeter of Cesar Chavez park. The path is stroller friendly, and also wheelchair accessible per the city’s website. There are sweeping views of the Bay. On a clear day, you can see all three bridges and Alcatraz. It’s windy here and a great spot to fly kites! We parked in a lot near 11 Spinnaker Way, Berkeley.

Richmond: San Francisco Bay Trail at Point Isabel Regional Shoreline
This is an out and back hike on the San Francisco Bay trail that you can make as long or short as you want. We usually turn around at Shimada Friendship Park, and make this around 5 miles total. If you time it right, you can see the breathtaking sunset behind the Golden Gate Bridge. We park in the lot or on the road near 2701 Isabel Street, Richmond. The path is jogging stroller friendly. There is a huge dog park at the start of the walk.

Santa Cruz: Old Cove Landing Trail at Wilder Ranch State Park
Take the Old Cove Landing trail for an easy stroll on the bluffs of the Santa Cruz coastline. We walked this as an out and back from the parking lot (at 1401 Coast Road, Santa Cruz) to Sand Plant Beach, which was just over 3.5 miles. You can make it a 2.5 mile loop instead, continuing up past Sand Plant Beach back to the parking lot. While some of this hike is paved, some of it is sandy. And you can take short trails down to the shoreline and into the coves. The views are breathtaking, and we spotted seals swimming and sunbathing on the rocks below! We also saw dolphins further out in the water. *There is a fee to enter this park.
